The aged professor quotes “Freedom’s without a path”
now he dresses like a widow and preaches “love is dead” in every class
But curiosity killed the cat and taught
the dog in him how to act
and it burned his bridge to Jill so he tries to drown the guilt with a bottle of Jack
Self proclaimed rebels say “We must oppose the system!”
“You gotta take a stand!” “If you’re not against them you’re with them!”
signs read “Support the troops bring em’ home!” “No more innocent victims!”
but when a homeless veteran asks for spare change you’re to busy protesting to even listen
Good old days with good hip hop.
So Meg & Dia have a Tumblr, and there was an interesting post from Dia…I didn’t know that they were dropped from their label, Warner Bros. Records. I’ve been seeing tweets from them about Dia looking for jobs, not getting hired, etc. I was wondering, “Why would they need jobs? Aren’t they doing really well?” At least I thought so…
The following is from this post, written by Dia.
“It’s frightening every time reality sinks in, and it does so often lately, that I take a hit for the worse, not because I have not felt the weight of it before, but that I still think too optimistically, which usually clouds my rationality”
“Most of my friends have graduated from college or are about to by the end of this year and suddenly I felt so behind. Most of them have “grown up” jobs that bring in “grown up” income, and are happy and are focused and are settled. I feel like I am just beginning all over again.”
“Now, of course, more details on what you all are most interested in, hopefully. How recording was and yes it is true. We recorded at a cabin in Tillamook, Oregon in the middle of the woods. We paid for it ourselves through our savings and did everything ourselves this time. We hired a young friend, our age, to help co-produce and engineer, and set up the studio in the tiny cabin. (Poor Nick had to sleep on an air mattress on the floor by Jonathan and Carlo). There was no room in the living room and there were chords and wires everywhere. We all huddled around the drums and amps every night to watch the NBA play offs.
“To our dear faithful fans, thank you for sticking by us. Especially the ones who knew us from “Our home is gone” era. Don’t think we have forgotten you or pushed your comments aside. Just for you, we recorded some special acoustic songs. …. we’ll show you soon. xo”
You can listen to just about every song they have here, but still:
Please, please, please support this band!
yeah! brooke and nigel. LOLs and she messes up the lyrics.
“Waste Another Day”
Don’t you say it’s too early
Baby I don’t wanna waste the day
When we’ve everything on our side
And nothing in our way
We can do what we wanna
‘Cos today the world is ours
Nothing gray, just real time and colour
In which to whittle away the hours
We could speak ‘til nothing’s left unspoken
We could drive ‘til we’ve run out of road
We could drink ‘til we’ve emptied the ocean
But I’d be happy here
Happy just to hold you
[Chorus]
‘Til the suns and planets disappear
I could stay in your arms all year
Even if that means infinity through
If being producttive is being with you
Then baby I don’t want to waste another day
I’ll shout aloud what I’m feeling
Let my tongue be still no more
Now I know that it’s the real thing
Just try and keep me quiet about it
Oh…
‘Cos we could stare until we both are blinded
We could fall ‘til gravity gets tired
We could lose our love just to re-find it
But I’m just happy here
Happy staying beside you
